SBIR grants (Small Business Innovation Research) and it’s sister STTR
grant program (Small Business Technology Transfer) provide $150K –
$1.5M in early stage R&D funding for high risk, new technology
development. 11 participating federal agencies use this program to fund
early stage technology development that will help them meet their
missions. SBIR/STTR represents 25% of all seed funding available in
the US, with over $3B available in 2019 – OVER $1.3B from DOD!
It’s true that the most important element in SBIR applications/proposals
is the specific technology, but that, alone, is not sufficient to win funding
– especially at the Department of Defense. DoD SBIR is a very crowded
and competitive environment with less than 1 in 9 applicants historically
winning awards. Come to this session to find out what else must be
presented, and fine-tuned, to secure an award. Preparation is the
absolute key to success in this game.
This information-packed session could easily fill a whole day, but has
been condensed to provide just the most critical components of
“planning to win.” Anyone who is serious about investing resources into
the pursuit of SBIR/STTR at DoD should plan to be there. This session
presented by Mr. John Davis of The SBIR Resource Center, one of the
leading SBIR consultants in the country.
